Cheverus Catholic has been providing students in Malden and surrounding communities with a superior education grounded in Christian values since 1908.
Cheverus Catholic is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Thomas Arria, Jr., as the new principal of Cheverus Catholic School. Mr. Arria is no stranger to either Malden or Everett. He served as the Headmaster of MALDEN CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL (2005-2008) and as Principal of POPE JOHN XXIII, Everett (2001-2005). From 1974 to 2001 Mr. ARRIA served at MALDEN CATHOLIC as Associate Headmaster & Vice Principal (1986-2001), Chairperson of Social Studies Department (1985-1990), and Teacher/Coach/Assistant Athletic Director (1974-1986). His coaching assignments at “M.C.” included Varsity, J.V., and Freshman basketball, Freshman baseball, and outdoor field and track. There is no doubt Cheverus will need additional space in the trophy case! Just briefly, Mr. Arria served as Vice Principal of Stoneham High School and Notre Dame Cristo Rey High School (Lawrence, MA). Mr. Arria brings a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to this position. To be sure, many of the families who knew Mr. Arria in the past will welcome his appointment as an opportunity to renew friendships. In his tenure as Principal of Cheverus, Mr. Arria will reach out to new students and families who will want to be numbered among the “alumni” of such a great Catholic school. In the spirit of its namesake, Bishop Jean-Louis Lefebvre de Cheverus, the CHEVERUS CATHOLIC will continue to work for the education and benefit for all who cross its’ threshold.
